LMVA Annual Report 2020
Fundraising
Raffles
The 2019/20 financial year saw a reduction in the amount raised from Raffles for the Association. There are a couple of reasons for the reduction in income from raffles:
Ticket sales fell in our larger raffles
Due to COVID-19 we could not sell any raffle tickets after the shut down in late March
The raffles we ran generated the following income
Father’s Day $ 466
Spring Raffle $ 355
Christmas Raffle $ 2,964
Valentine’s Day $ 537
Easter Raffle $ 500
People’s Choice Community Lottery
While once again the Volunteer association was involved in the community lottery significant issues arose for us. Of the 500 books the Lyell McEwin Volunteers were issued we only sold 200. There were several reasons for this reduction in ticket sales.
The first of which is that the volunteers were not given a Point of Sale (POS) location in the Elizabeth Shopping Centre as in previous years. This POS generally contributed to the sale of about 100 books.
Less volunteers took books home to sell among family and friends
The large lottery market is getting overloaded and selling tickets is becoming harder.
Entertainment Books
Sales flattened in 2019/20 for Entertainment Books. In total we sold 90 books. This will reduce dramatically in the 2020/21 financial year for two reasons
COVID-19
Entertainment books are only available online. Many customers liked the book as they could share vouchers amongst friends.
Wrapping
As in many previous years the Lyell McEwin Volunteers once again held present wrapping at the Elizabeth Shopping Centre. Due to COVID-19 the Mother’s Day wrapping did not proceed.
The wrapping fundraisers we did do raised the following amounts
Father’s Day Wrapping $477.35
Christmas Wrapping $5936.65
BBQ
During the 2019/20 financial year the BBQ team continued to grow. With at least one BBQ every week sometimes more. As with last financial year the BBQ team held regular BBQ’s at a couple of locations
Bunnings Munno Para West
Drakes Salisbury North
Lyell McEwin Hospital
Due to the renovations at Modbury Hospital the ability to hold BBQ’s became restricted. The COVID-19 restrictions in the last quarter of the financial year shut down the BBQ team for over 3 months.
We would like to give a huge thank you to all the Volunteers that have assisted with BBQ’s in 2019/20. However we do need a particular mention for all the running around and preparation they do so that the BBQ’s run smoothly. A big thank you Garrie Hill, Richard Van Vliet and Shawn Callaghan.
